Re: Afan Trip
We have filled the last place for Afan , Filthy Habit (Rob) has been coerced , sorry persuaded to come, so should be a good trip.
Iain , we usually do the longest ride on the First day so will probably do the Whites or Skyliner on the Saturday and then either the Penhydd or The Wall on the Sunday, so not sure if its worth meeting up,

You guys are keen, its a long way for a day trip. No falling asleep on the trails
Re: Afan Trip
Cool, we'll do the Penhydd with you and do the Whites also. I think it's a good trail for Dave to see with great variety. From memory, i think the wall is quite a long trail

don't think there's much in it for distance, but the Penhydd is an easier trail IMHO

Re: Afan Trip
Well the weathers looking ok for next weekend but it could change down in the valley's by the time we get there
So whats the plan guys, are we having the catering pakage and just taking beer or are we taking our own food?
What time are people planning to get there? is any one riding on Friday?

Re: Afan Trip
Filthy habit and I are going to leave MK at about 1:30 hopefully so may do a trail on the Friday, I havent done Cwmcarn in 3.5 years so it would be good to do that, or maybe do the Penhydd or the Wall as they're doable in a couple of hours.

erm how about doing the catering package, taking beer and taking some food as well ? Seriously though , might be good to have some emergency provisions - I don't mind doing some cooking if needs be.
Are there cooking facillities in the barn ?
Do we have to let them know in advance about the food package ? Do we have to pre-order from the menu ?
smegger , I finish work at 1pm , if I leave and go straight to you, would be 2ish before we load and leave i guess. Not sure we'll realistically have enough daylight by the time we get there ? Its gotta be a 3 1/2 hour journey ? You got lights ?
I could see if i can get friday off , but its unlikely at the moment.

Re: Afan Trip
There are cooking facilites at the place but If I remember they're not great, I don't mind cooking either but sometimes it nice to have someoene else do it for you as we found in Scotland after doing Kirroughtree and then not getting back until 8 'clock and then facing cooking.
You might be right about riding on the Friday I've just done a google map and its 3 and a Quarter hour drive, it didn't seem to take that long last time. I thought we might have time to ride at Cwmcarn but its still 2 hours 50 mins to get there and it goes dark at 6, so it looks like Friday riding is out.
I'm riding on Sunday but won't be up there until 12 so I hope you fancy a ride to the Cafe

Re: Afan Trip
I was thinking are you doing night ride on Friday!
I think we will get there similar times I should be leaving Watford about 2 then its just a matter of how bad the traffic is.
Cattering option sounds good, then just a matter of bringing trail food munchies and beer/wine

Re: Afan Trip
OK , Im a bit confused....
Is it 8 of us ? or 6 ?
Thought Smegg had booked an 8 berth bunk cabin - in which case according to the website there is no cooking facilities...
or are we in 6 berth, again no cooking....
or are we in a few 2 story 3 bed cabins ?
Simon, hoping to be in the woods for 10am ride, see how my knee copes. Taking camera, so if i struggle I'll do my Heather Angel impressions 'till you arrive at 12 for cafe ride.
