Rides for 2012
Just a quick update to announce that the Committee haven't formally put together a calendar for 2012; however what we do plan are the following rides:
Swinley Forest
Peak District
Thetford Forest
Cannock Chase
Wales - probably Afan and/or Nant-y-aran
We are proposing a trip to Scotland again as we didn't manage that last year!
Any suggestions or willing guides for a `new` area would be appreciated....I know it would be good to do Christmas Common/Stokenchurch in the dry.....and there have been a few suggestions for North/South Downs. There will be a strong possibility of a third party guide for Swinley as well as the South Downs.
On top of this there is also a strong possiblity of a guided road ride for all of you that now have one.....I did do a double road/off-road adventure in the Peaks/Macclesfield Forest a few years ago but I could easily do a more `local` one for those who fancy a day jaunt `on the black stuff`. And of course a cafe stop....
Here's to a fab two wheeled year! Cycle On!!

Re: Rides for 2012
Sure I can manage to guide an Ashridge ride, when things dry out ! Its not nice up there at the moment. Very nice cake!
Llandegla is quite worth a trip now they have replaced the boring bit at the end, with lots of swoopy single track. on the way to Marin/ Penmachno.
Could maybe stretch to guiding a ride in the Clywds
A few of us made Scotland last year Still as good as ever!
Some where where English isn't the first language, Somewhere where you don't have to ride up hill?

Re: Rides for 2012
Some good ride's there Gav! Hope to do better than i did last year and get out more, but July/August will be difficult.
Anyone interseted in either the Coast to Coast (Cumbria to North East one!), or ride the North Downs and then link it up with a ride to the South Downs finishing in Brighton? I would be happy to organise either - probably for late September.

Neil i'm really liking the sound of linking the North and South downs as a good little adventure for the end of September mate

Re: Rides for 2012
I've got quite a nice ride I do down Wendover sometimes, happy to lead that when the Chilterns has dried out a bit.
Neil, I'm up for Coast 2 Coast or something similar, as I mentioned a while back. Something a little bit long distance with an overnight wild camp spot somewhere would be excellent, difficult to do this outside of Scotland though.

Hi Jase,
to do the wild camp thing i think it would need to be the Cairngorms perhaps. I'm still keen on the idea but would have to plan quickly due to lack of time this summer!

And I'm working on perfecting my North Bucks / South Northants 35 mile off road route which I am happy to take a group round when the weather gets a bit drier

Re: Rides for 2012
This all looks good & very positive.!
Thanks to everyone for getting back so quickly!!!
It would be great if we could pencil in the first `away` ride for Thetford.....it's always a crackin` good ride & some of the trails may have dried out by then....
SUNDAY 29 JANUARY - THETFORD FOREST.
Watch this space for more info.....if anybody wishes to guide this ride let me know but there is a waymarked route and most of us know the trails....
cheers!

Re: Rides for 2012
I do have a soft spot for grizedale as that’s where I proposed to the missus! But if people are thinking of heading up to the lakes then whinlatter is definitely worth a look as well. I’ve still only ever done the south red loop and the blue route. but its be worth travelling all that way just for them on their own, without even hitting the north red loop.

Re: Rides for 2012
Another place I don't think we have been with the club is The Long Mynd a few of us done the CRC last year. There is a map available online or from local bike shop. Something different from the normal trail centre stuff
