Re: Friday night summer series
The FNSS is a wicked series and a great way to lose the week's stress and to chase your mates or as I do, imagine Fizz is chasing after me as the men start before the ladies (most unsporting but hey ho!)
Last year we had loads of support and racers it is a great laugh

Re: Friday night summer series
Enter online folks-its cheaper!
I'm in-I've entered rounds 2 (MK), 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10. I've left a few out for the mo but R11 is the fun one when everyone gets naked and think about things other than bikes...

Re: Friday night summer series
Could be tempted to give this a go... What's the MK bowl course like? I can't picture much off road round there, other than riding around on the grass?

Re: Friday night summer series
I think I'm going to have a go at the MK one, now I can race in the veterans class :-)
Jase, from looking at pictures of previous MK events, it seems to be on the grass, up & down the slopes with a bit of singletrack through some of the undergrowth surrounding too!.
Should be a good do!
Anyone know if there's anywhere that you can leave your clobber & extra water bottles while you race?

Re: Friday night summer series
I’ve done a couple of the Bowl races in previous years and the course usually changes somewhat each year.
But as mentioned they usually go up and down the grass banks on the inside of the bowl and between the trees that line the top of the bowl. Part of the lap usually includes the wooded sections outside the actual bowl (parallel with Watling St).
Its tougher than you’d imagine, especially if its wet.
I’m not sure you’ll need extra bottles as the race is only 1 hour. But if you do then I’d suggest giving them to someone who you know who will be watching or marshalling.
Or you could just do what Fizz did and went back to her car during the race, and still won!

Excellent way to spend a Friday evening. It was a good blast for an hour and all the people overtaking were very polite. I came 5th ...........................shame there were only 7 females in the category! Fizz of cause left everyone in her dust. Well done Fizz for your 1st place. See you all at the bowl next Fiday evening.

Re: Friday night summer series
Looking forward to the MK bowl event this Friday
It should be a lot of fun, and seeing as it is in Milton Keynes hopefully we should get quite a few of us out there! Even if the weather does look interesting:-
http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/anydate_forecast.asp?zipcode=MK6+1BA&day=15&month=5&year=2009 (I'm sure it will all blow over!)
Could possibly be talked into a celebratory trip to the pub after .
So who is thinking of coming along?

Re: Friday night summer series
Yay I'll be there!!
I am going to sacrifice a winning position for all you eager racers and employ some blocking tactics in the form of a mobile chicane for the lycra clad carbon riding gram cutting racers who'll be there.
And what's with this Veteran Class business , where's the Mid Life Crises Class??? With a 10 minute head start of course!! No, lets make that 20!

They usually start at 7.15 but allow time to sign on and have a ride round the course if you want.

Re: Friday night summer series
Well done to you guys who finished it.. there was a most excellent cyclone representation even without Woody!
results are here
http://fnssmtb.com/
I had a slight mishap on the third lap chasing Aaron down a hill.. (I think caused by the drawing pin I noticed in my front wheel right on the start line)..
Ice on the bruises and been to buy a new helmet today
