Simon.
Count me in for this next year, it can't be as bad as off road coast to coast across the Scotland.

Re: C2C Offroad
Guy's I'm doing this exact route next week for 5 days, it's pretty hard going, especially the lakes. I have it all maped out on Memory Map with profiles etc if you would like them Simon.
I have both the offical route which is 8 days and also my own version of the route which is the offical route but condensed into 5 days. In MBR this month they also feature this ride in 4 days!!!!
I'll let you know how we get on but all I'm planning on taking is a medium rucksack.
I did Scotland C2C so will be able to compare.

Re: C2C Offroad
I was thinking of doing it in May possibly, but seriously need to work on my fitness as the Ruthin ride has proved. It would be like doing that every day for 5 days, so it might be a bit ambitious

Re: C2C Offroad
I'm back now ! and yes I`ve done the C2C route from Whitehaven to Sunderland.
It was part of the official C2C Route but we did `The Old Coach Road` at Keswick, beacause it meant an extra bit of climbing and we were on mtb bikes!
5200 metres of climbing ain`t much Col Du Galibier is 2700 metres in 22km!!! That`s a real climb - Pussies!!!!!!!!!!

Re: C2C Offroad
Finished St Bees to Robins Hood Bay on Tuesday. I can truely say that this is the hardest trip to date I have ever done. This includes C2C Wales and C2C Scotland.
We did it in 5 days, the first three were the toughest, in fact mental. My advice it get training NOW!, take lights, take assos cream, start at 7am and don't stop pedalling.
Otherwise this was one of the best trips with all sorts of terrains, my favorite spots were, hiking up Black Sail Pass with my bike, desending Walna Scar with a small LED light, descending pass Rydal waters, getting lost, punctures......
Oh and the sense of achievement. Seriously if I can do it, so can you guys.
