Re: Rough Ride
But if you insist then pin back your ears and pull up a sandbag...
Hereford - the home of SAS , members of which are supposed to remain anonymous and usually have their eyes blacked out in photo's. There's a witty view that they actually wear the black tape as opposed to it being digitally added later. This started the tenuous thread of reference to special forces military terms and the ex SAS members Chris Ryan and Andy McNab who are famous for writing books based loosely on their experiences.
I am gonna have to put you through the paper shredder now.

Hey does that mean we have to wear black tape over our eyes incase we have our photo's taken?

I'll just be known a K . That way if I fail on operation Rough Ride you can deny knowing me.

But who is going to be Major Walter Mitty of 49 Para????
Re: Rough Ride
The casting director would have to set tough guidlines:
- It would have to be a Ross Kemp look-a-like (but without Ross's obvious fitness level)
- Riding a steel girder on castors but still beating everyone elses pace both up and down hill.
- Oh, and able to bunny hop, forward flip and superman over speed bumps.

Re: Rough Ride
All,
I'm going to do the full route with a couple of lads from work, I'll be getting there around 6ish on the Saturday so I should see some of you for a beer at some point.
Andy,
Is your bike gonna be fixed in time?
Steve

Re: Rough Ride
Changed my mind I will do it. Looking at the riders list, Pete, Steve and myself are the only cyclone riders-Shall we do the full course together and pull each other round, including Steve's workmates.

Re: Rough Ride
Sounds like a good idea to me but I'm riding with a workmate too - I'll float the idea of riding in a group past him and let you all know.
Re: Rough Ride
Anyone booking a hotel? I fancy that rather than camping. Steve I know you are. Daz? Pete?

Re: Rough Ride
Will probably camp the night before (it's free!) which will also ensure I am up early ! Will head back home after the ride.
I am up for riding in a group.

Steve, I've booked a room for Daz and me at Southbourne.

Re: Rough Ride
Whoo hooo I got my timing chip, rider number and joining instructions through the post this morning.
From what I can make out by trawling back through the forum:
Daz B+B 75km
Steve T B+B 75km + lads from work
Craig 269 Camping 75km
Andy B+B 75km
Pete Camping 75km + workmate
Are we riding (or at least starting) out as a group?
I guess you'll all be doing your own thing in the evening if you're at different B+B's/hotels. If we're riding as a group how about meeting up at Wilfs cafe for 0900hrs on the Sunday morning? That's 1 hour before kick off, time for a coffee or second breakfast
Rather than share mobile numbers on the internet if you want you can email me your numbers to craig.llewellyn@bwffw.org.uk and i'll distribute them so we have contact details on the day.

Re: Rough Ride
Craig I've sent you my number. We are intending to ride as a group Cyclone shirts I hope all round?!
We should meet in a pub on Sat night for grub and ales.
I'm sure we'll all do the 75k ride and get well deserved free food when we get back.

Re: Rough Ride
Shucks.. that'll make me the odd one out.
Hey how about doing what we used to do at school (which is probably now banned) - do it in skins!
Neked is a bit too hard core for me - especially if it's cold...
There is actually a prize for the worst dressed rider....
