Milton Keynes, Stockgrove & Woburn loop - Thursday 18th Aug
By popular demand, a handful of us are doing a loop from Milton Keynes, along the canal to the three locks pub and then up through Stockgrove park, across to Woburn, with a brief stop at the chippy in Woburn Sands, before returning back to MK.
Meeting points are
Tesco Express, Elthorne Way in Newport Pagnell @ 7pm sharp
Or
OK Garage, Peartree Bridge at 7:15pm http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Peartree+Bridge,+Milton+Keynes&hl=en&ll=52.028007,-0.7322&spn=0.002479,0.003905&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=19.563564,31.992188&vpsrc=6&z=18
Any others are welcome to join, as long as you can keep up a reasonable pace for the distance.
Lights will be needed for part of the Journey home

I would be up for this if you are going to do it on another day. Sadly this week I will have to give it a miss due to a prior arrangement.
BTW, on Friday I rode to London on the Canal towpath!

Brian, that London ride - is it decent tow path all the way, as I tried to go some distance North along the canal, but got machine gunned by thorns North of Cosgrove and had to abort?

Re: Milton Keynes, Stockgrove & Woburn loop - Thursday 18th Aug
Neil:
It’s pretty rubbish (for a towpath) in lots of places. Lots of rough ground and there are about 6 miles unsurfaced from grove lock down towards Luton. I was lucky puncture-wise, but I had been well warned and was prepared with spares and running high pressures. With all the bumpiness, bridges and dismounts for steps etc. It was hard to hold a 12mph average so I would allow at least 5 hours to Brentford. The bit down to the three locks is great though, probably the best of the whole route apart from some sections inside London itself. With that said its a very rewarding adventure with lots to see along the way. Ask me about it when you see me and I will babble on about it for hours
Kurt:
As I said, I would like to join you again if you re-arrange this for another Thursday. Any chance of meeting me at Willen shops between 5 and 10 past 7 on your way to the OK please?
