Cyclone Trips 2010
It’s time to plan some trips as this cold weather can’t last forever. I shall be organising the following trips and would appreciate some feedback on interest so I can gage what size accommodation to look for.
I shall be looking for self catering accommodation with bike lock up and washing facilities. Those of you who would like to join us on a trip but would prefer to camp nearby or book alternative accommodation are more than welcome.
If you could let me know if you are definitely interested or you might be interested that would be great.
Long Weekends:
May - Sat 29th to Mon 31st (Bank Holiday Monday) Afan, Wales
July - Sat 3rd & Mon 5th Mountain Bike Marathon Series Grassington (Yorkshire)
August - Sat 14th to Mon 16th Brighton Big Dog 6 hour team endurance race
September - Sat 18th to Mon 20th Mountain Bike Marathon Series. Ruthin,Wales
9/10 day trip:
August - Sat 21st Aug to Mon 30th (Bank Holiday Monday) Scotland (9 riders have shown a definite interest so far.)
A trip to the Lake District has also been requested but we need someone with a bit of local knowledge to guide us around. So let me know if you would like to volunteer.
If anyone else would like to organise any other trips for the club or have suggestions for trips please feel free to have a chat with me or one of the other committee members.

Re: Cyclone Trips 2010
I can recommend this place when you go to Scotland http://www.mountainbikeapartments.com/ Stayed there in October got everything that you need.
I won't be going to Scotland as last year I can't get the time off work.
Stayed here when we went to Afan in November http://www.brynteghouse.com/index.html
I'll be at the Ruthin round of the marathon series in September

Thanks. I shall definitely try to book the mountainbikeapartments as soon as. I was going to ask you if you would recommend them. Looks great on the website. I tried booking last year but they were booked up. I've also stayed at brynteg house, very friendly people.

Howgills
Milton Keynes council has a centre just outside Sebergh, they Charge £14.50 each a night. With great views of the Howgill fells and not too far from the lake district.
I hear there are a few good biking routes near by, but not sure myself.

Re: Cyclone Trips 2010
Hi guy's
If you like i can plan another day trip over to Cannock Chase again
i think the few that came over enjoyed it and we have found
loads more trails on the north side, i'll leave the dates up to Darren as
he picked a corker of a day last year (no pressure there Daz!)
cheers, Jim

Re: Cyclone Trips 2010
I did a 5-day trip with Cycle-active 3 or 4 years ago and the terrain is awesome, when I was there they said they would gladly show me some routes or I'm sure there are some online, I have the VG book of Lake District routes and can highly recommend Borrowdale bash and Garburn Pass, which are shown in the book

Re: Cyclone Trips 2010
Thanks Jim I'll have to do my Michael Fish bit again and pick us a decent day
I can certainly vouch for the fact that Cannock is so much more than follow the dog and well
worth the short (ish) trip if you ask me
Darren

Re: Cyclone Trips 2010
I would be interested in the Afon trip at the end of May, not been to South wales for ages.
I have ridden in the Lakes but not sure if I could remember the route we did. It was a really good ride and included a ferry crossing. We camped at Hawkshead which is close to Grizedale forest park.

Re: Cyclone Trips 2010
Hi all
Now that the sun is out making it a bit more appealling to venture further a field, could you start letting me know which trips you would be interested in so I can put some deposits down for accommodation.
You don't have to commit at this stage I just need an idea on the level of interest. I shall start sending out more detail on each trip as the interest mounts so please give me some feedback.
