Re: Valentines day ride at Wendover
Cheers everyone for a great Saturday. Thanks to Smeg for arranging it.
Was a great skills lesson on icy snow and sheet ice. Not sure if 60psi in my tyres was helping or not !! Filthy does it sideways

Re: Valentines day ride at Wendover
I have a theory....
unless you can run such low pressures that the tyre footprint is so massive that it doesn't melt the ice underneath (unlikely), then run a really high pressure so that the contact patch is long and thin, rather than just a blob.
That way you still get some steering when ur sliding, a bit like an ice skate. Possibly helps sideways bite and turn in too.
Just a theory of mine, I was seriously sideways at times, but never washed out completely. Unlike some hehe.
Had a Maxxis High Roller on the back - just happens to be what i'm running - am really impressed with its all round capabilities, but its lack of lumps in the middle might not have been the best choice for Saturday lol.
Filthy.
