XC -NPS
Rightyso,
Has anyone raced the National Points series over the last few years - Rich/Nath/Jase anyone..??
I'm trying to guage if it's ultra dead competitive or do-able without being completely left behind and demoralised by my bike/legs combo..
Nicky said the downhill NPS racing was good fun and inspiring..
Anyone fancy the first round at Thetford in April??

Re: XC -NPS
At the tail end of last year I did the Gorrick Autumn Classic. 2 races, I raced in 'fun' for both.
I'm doing the Midlands XC (if the weather is good) on the 6th April, and then hopefully the whole of the Southern XC.
Probably looking at doing the Fun cat again, just to gauge where I am in relation to the rest of the field. You can always compare your laps to those of the other cats to see how you would have fared I suppose.
Would love to have a go at the NPS. They don't do a fun cat afaik, so will maybe look at entering open next year, depending on how I get on this year in less serious races.
Have you done much other racing Fizz? I placed 28, and 26th, iirc at the 2 races I did, out of a 60 strong field I didn't consider that too bad for a 1st attempt.
Been training properly the last few months, so hoping to see an improvement, although the weather the last week has kept me off the bike a lot. (and it's squeeking and creaking, which is really annoying! )

Re: XC -NPS
Fizz,
If your concerned about them being too competitive why not Try the Midlans or/and Southern XC as Steve is doing?
Have a look here for loads of different events http://baseportal.com/baseportal/numplumz/main

Re: XC -NPS
Fizz,
NPS downhill is highly competitive in my view, although fun.Im guessing XC would be the same, it is the top series of MTB racing!

Re: XC -NPS
Oh, and to race downhill at NPS, I'm pretty sure you need some proven results in lower series, or something like that. Best to know that in advance and save embarrassment on the day if you can't meet their criteria or prove results.

Re: XC -NPS
Well, that was different... I was the only person riding in baggy shorts and with a 3L camelback strapped on my back
hehehe, good day though - smooth course and the weather shined, we watched the Elites hoon it around at double speed.
I wasn't quite expecting how seriously some people take it - warming up on turbo trainers with spare race wheels , teams and things... granted, they were the fast ones though!
...However, as the mouthy RAF girl on the start line learnt to her cost, a sponsored shirt doesn't get you second place (yes I got to stand on an actual podium!)*
*there were only three girls entered the category, I was still proud!

Re: XC -NPS
I can’t recall what day the Friday Night Summer Series takes place!!!!!!!!!!!!
From memory everyone starts together unless numbers are really high in which case they have the vets start in 1 group and everyone else a few minutes before hand.
