Bike Insurance Empty Bike Insurance

Post  filthyhabit 2008-01-22, 09:11

Anyone got any details of good MTB insurance. Usually have bikes on house insurance, but been getting some quotes for renewing, and bikes add £70 / year to my best quote so far.
Thinking it might be better to use specialist insurance ? Any suggestions ? Any stories about how easy / difficult it was to make a claim etc ?
Bert.

Obviously depends on how much you want to insure you bike for. But if you look for something around £3k I've had specific quotes for over £150 !!

I stuck mine free on my house insurance, just shop around. You will find someone.

M&S cover is good on bikes.

I agree, specific insurance will work out more expensive.

M & S building and contents cover includes 'stuff' up to the value of £4K before having to list it as a seperate item. It also covers it away from home automatically in any country

HI!

Just to agree with the others that M&S is a good choice but so is Nationwide. You can individually add bikes to the insurance that are worth over £1000. That means anything below that figure is still insured.

With Nationwide the policy increases as you add more bikes but they are all insured away from the house too.

Hope that helps.
