Iliotibial Band Syndrome
After a very painful knee during the ride on sunday, I booked at appointment with my favourite Physio (ex-Watford football team Physio) who diagnosed Iliotibial band friction syndrome. I've had a bit of treatment and need to spend the next two weeks doing IB stretches... So I'll off the bike for another 2-3 weeks. Sorry I missed the club night, I didn't realise it was this week....

Sorry to hear about your injury , but glad you've got a diagnosis, maybe you can do some swimming to keep the fitness up

Re: Iliotibial Band Syndrome
I had that after Ruthin last year, sorry to hear about it. Hopefully your recovery will be quicker than mine, took about 3 months for me. Although I was an idiot and rode through the excruciating pain!
If you haven't already done it, it's well worth getting someone to look at your bike setup, which can cause the problem to come back once you get back on the bike. Specialized innersoles helped a bit for me too.
There's some good stretches on the Internet for your IB which I used as I couldn't work out how to repeat the stretch the physio showed me without him to point out where I should be putting my feet / knees / etc!
Get well soon!

Re: Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Thanks guys, after half an hour of riding today and it kicked in again, not as bad this time. Back to the physio next week... Maybe I should stick to downhill only for now...
