Camelbak Hydration Pack for Merida
I am planning on completing the Ruthin Merida this year and would like some advice on a suitable Camelbak Hydration Pack.
I have a blow fish, which is great for long days out, but I have found this a bit bulky and heavy for the Merida type enduro.
The Camelbaks are great and looking through their range the lobo would seem to fit my requirements. I have read some negative reports on the forums about the pump holder and wondered if anyone had any experience or could recommend another hydration pack.
Requirements
At least 2 litres of water
Enough storage for a pump, inner tube, keys, gels/bars, puncture repair kit
Comfortable to wear

Re: Camelbak Hydration Pack for Merida
I didn't think you'd want one since you've converted to the dark side!!
I have a road bike now if you are ever up for a ride and I'm living in Markyate which isn't too far from you.
I have a lobo which is ideal. Holds 2 litres and has enough space for inner tube etc..

Re: Camelbak Hydration Pack for Merida
Thanks Iain,
Your almost a neighbour! Send me an email and your contact details to "paul" at proberts.me.uk and we can hook up for a ride. I know some great routes through the Chilterns if your up for it.
Yes I have converted to the dark side , but still enjoy MTBing (went on the Mid Wales trip with the Cyclone in April) and am not planning to give up anytime soon!

Re: Camelbak Hydration Pack for Merida
Don't bother with one, Merida have water/feed stations every 20k or so. You be alrite with a bottle.
Re: Camelbak Hydration Pack for Merida
I've got a Camelbak bladder and a Dueter. The Camelbak bladder has the disadvantage of having a small neck which prevents me getting my hands in to scrub it. The Dueter bladder folds over at the top and is sealed by a slide on clip so getting in is a doddle.
However the Dueter bite valve uses thinner rubber with a plastic inner that forces it to regain its shape after the bite and seal. The Camelbak does this without the plastic inner so is less fiddly. I've always had to fiddle with the Dueter bite valve to stop it leaking, never had any trouble with the Camelbak and now I've managed to bite through the Dueter valve so it constantly leaks
I'd like a Dueter bladder with a Camelbak bite valve.

Smegger's right the Lobo is 3 litres and very light, otherwise don't bother as Steve says. You shouldn't need one matey.
