SCOTLAND - 7Stanes
Couple of things to mention about the latest CyclONe trip to Scotland.
1. Big thanx to Graham for organising trip.Well done, especially finding cheap accomodation in Peebles!
2. The BEST ride in the country! Kirroughtree, nr Newton Stewart. The very best & toughest ride currently in the UK. Its like Coed-y-Brenin on aciiiiddd.......
For those of you who didn`t go......BAD LUCK!!!
I cannot describe how good the graded Scottish trails are.... We will organise another trip there for next year and hope some of you `hardcore` riders will join the inorgural trip!
**Photos to follow, as well as top talk at next club night**

Re: SCOTLAND - 7Stanes
Fantastic trip, even with the stops to keep pumping up the rear shock
I enjoyed Kirroughtree last year but doing the blackloop as well this year really made it.
Just how tough was the ride up along and over the Mc moab? Then the single track after riding up heartbreak ridge just went on for ever and ever
Lots of photos taken 140ish and 150mb so too many to upload
I will try and upload a few pics but will put then all on a cd if some can bring a laptop along to the next club night
There was a first on this trip for me seeing Big Gav refuse some food saying he was full up
Simon got a few looks in the Indian when he took a bite out of the green beans that were on the top of his curry (aka chillies)

Re: SCOTLAND - 7Stanes
I was losing air from the rear shock had to keep pumping it up for the first 4 days so rather than risk all out failure I hired a bike for the last 2 days (I was still first down the hills) just had to be a bit more careful with the lines
Ive since found a little nik in the shaft on the rear shock so I guess the seals are fooked

Re: SCOTLAND - 7Stanes
Thanks guys for a fabulous weeks biking and great company. I think Ae still remains my favourite although I did enjoy Kirroughtree with my slightly spectacular tumble down into a stream and the Dalbeattie ride was even better this year with the new sections added. It was good to go to Glentress on festival week and ride the trails there with the fast downhill runs. The trails in Scotland are definitely the best in the UK and a challenge for any grade of rider.
The Merida at Aviemore was probably the best so far this year for me. With loads of single-track through the heather and even though it rained most of the time it just added to the fun trails. No big hills just lots of up’s and down’s and spectacular scenery.
Thanks also to ‘I need more food ‘Andrew and LG and Fizz for their company at the Outsider festival, despite the mud every where it was still a good atmosphere and a well organised event. I just knew when we went camping it would rain!
Will we go back in 2008; there is still loads more to do…
Pics:( a few more added!) https://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u95/Cyclone_2007/Scotland%20June%202007/

Re: SCOTLAND - 7Stanes
The 7 ride the 7.
What a fantastic holiday. Thanks to all who came along and helped
making the week the highlight of my biking year.
Thank you to Graham and Gav for their hard work in setting it all up.
Just to echo Gav's statement if you didn't make it....BAD LUCK.
Although to get through the week you definatly had to be a rider who
could walk the walk !!!!!
The Merida was fab. Really ace course. Well done Fizzy Wizzy 2hr and
41 minutes. Outstanding says a very proud BF.
Here's till next year when we get the chance to do it all again.

Re: SCOTLAND - 7Stanes
Scotland was Ace. Big Thanks to Graham for organising the accommodation and 'the crew' for an excellent chills and thrills holiday atmosphere... bik, bike, sauna, bbq... ah relax
Come to Club night to see what you missed. Tough climbs and ace decents, north shore and Britney Spears! The highlight of my biking year also.
4 of us continued North to the inagural Outsider festival with a load of mud, porridge, comedy, music and Merida.. Personally well worth the extra couple of hours drive.
The course was challenging and fast with a light drizzle that turned into heavy showers and a tough finish to wrestle bikes over the snaking blue pipe onthe trails. The offical Welsh commentator was installed to talk through the rain and hand out spot prizes.
The results are out..
Fizz 2hrs42mins 11/193 riders, 2nd girl to finish!
Gav 3hrs6mins 35/193 riders, just missed the sub 3hrs.
Andrew 3hrs25mins 63/193, excellent performance vs last year.
Graham 5hrs27mins, 186/193 riders, caught in the uphill jam with all the 65K riders, wet through at the end but smiling as always.
It was a cracking course through natural tight trails into the clouds, here's to the next one!
