Hadrian's Wall
Just a thought has anyone wanted to do this on bikes? i`ve walked it and there are hard parts to walk so for bikes that might be a challenge. Hadrians Wall
don`t have to camp out there are bunk houses or pubs to stop at and in.
not sure if you can go on the main wall path but i think you can over look it?. needs looking in to????

Now that's my neck of the woods!!!!! (I grew up in Hexham)
I dont think you can ride on the path next to the wall (certainly not in Vindolanda and major ruins of forts I've been to)
My Uncle has done the coast to coast ride with his teenage kids but they had to get fit first cos of the distance
I think most of its road or track, nothing too technical BUT the scenery is gorgeous (and various bits are well worth a look on foot) especially in Northumberland. Most of the wall is protected by English Heritage (or something similar) and so there is a charge to see most of the fort ruins but these are fab (yes I'm in awe of the Romans)
so if you're looking for a serious ride I dont think this wud be the thing.
I think my Uncle was saying the camp sites were really expensive for what you got, so it wouldn't be a cheap trip either
