Rob tries a front flip on a double jump!
and well some of you might know he didn't make the landing quite right....
Here are are some things to think about for the future
-If you have an accident at Swinley, - pls phone the lookout first and the ranger will direct the ambulance to the location in the woods as they know the best approaches.
-Don't wear your favourite T-shirt on first attempts as the ambulance crew will only cut it off to get the neck brace on.
-Always invite your friends who can help load you while on the spinal board into the ambulance
-Take all gas they offer you, the journey out to the road is very bumpy!
I'm glad to say after that ordeal Rob is actuallly very lucky to have got away with only a dislocated shoulder and torn muscle in his leg -
Still very painful, but could have been a lot worse - his helmet saved him from a very much more serious injury.. we wish him a speedy recovery.
it is indeed a filthy habit ..

*Warning contains humour*
Well Fizz, to quote Big Gav,
"We've been to Ae and now we're going to E. A & E."
other points for the future
- make sure video camera is rolling before attempting doubles and/or large drops
- blood capsules are recommended to increase the claret
- be sure to photograph any injury for submission to bike mags / cyclone committee fubar award

Rob,
Get well soon, glad you only cracked your helmet and not your collar bone.
Si
p.s. the double was built by kids who were working to metric measurements.

Re: Rob tries a front flip on a double jump!
Thanks for all the comments folks, and a serious big thanks to everybody for all the support, thoughts and assistance. This really is a magical club we're all part of.
Feels a bit foolish now - my top tip for anyone is to have a good look at a jump first. watch a few people crash first then decide which limb you're gonna take out. Was having such good fun, Got a bit carried away though.
Metaphorically first , then physically lol.
This is first time i've managed to work out how to perch close enough to my pc to type anything. Bruising on my thigh is unbelievable now. you should see my ar*e, erm or maybe not.Can barely sit down. only stand or lay down.
Shoulder is not in pain, but laid up in sling for time being.Hoping i'll be able to get some physio going soon, so i can return again. Wonder what limb i'm gonna mash next ? perhaps should run a sweepstake.
Ever tried putting socks on with just one arm ?
At the end of the day , still glad i went. Better than just lazing about on the sofa....oh irony. Jeremy Kyle anyone? Daytime telly. Arggggghhhhhh.
Bert.
