Thetford - any good?
Hi folks
I'm staying at a mate's on the far side of Cambridge in a couple of weeks and though I might try Thetford the following morning seeing as I'll be half way there already.
Anyone been? Worth the effort? Any tips? How does it compare to our local trails? Looks like there's two trails there - a black and a red, whatever that means.
Hard tail vs full bouncy?

Re: Thetford - any good?
Yes well worth a trip if your over that way. There are some way marked trails offering some pretty good single track.
A hardtail is all you really need.

Re: Thetford - any good?
map for routes - http://www.forestry.gov.uk/website/pdf.nsf/pdf/thetford-bike-map.pdf/$FILE/thetford-bike-map.pdf
Red route has had more work on it by Timber so rides better - black has the bombholes though (and The Beast) - neither is too technical both around an easy red under IMBA guidelines.
Parking at High Lodge is now £9.60 per day - and Brandon Country Park (connected with a 2K blue route) is still free!

Re: Thetford - any good?
Thanks again for the info, went yesterday and did both the black and red runs. Meh, it was ok. Nice to do something different for a change although I'd say there are more interesting rides to be done around our local trails.
The red run is nicely maintained though and they've done a good job considering the whole place is totally flat.
