Red Kite Mountain Bike Festival 6th-9th August
Hello Peeps.
I'm just trying to estabilish if there is interest in this event as its fast loom on the calendar.
It's a good event if and a little different from the norm. Basically its a 4 day event starting on the Thurday and going through to the Sunday with the option of paying for and doing 1-2-3 or 4 days. If that all sounds very Welsh to you then its because it is. Its guided by the local Boys from in and around Llanwrtyd Wells and believe me they really know the local trails.
It's not your usually trail centre stuff this is wild Welsh hill country at it's best. So if you like your riding raw and untamed its one for you.
If you need more info or personal recommendation come and talk to BG, Fizz, Mark P, Brain, Chrissy or me.
Anyway details below, let me know your thoughts.

Do they have a campsite? Or is it a case of finding something nearby?

Hey Si
There is a campsite of sorts its the local cricket pitch, with some scout huts next to it, the showers are rudimentary and there's only 2 but is close to the town centre .
You would absolutely love it especially doethe valley which has been featured in MBR as 1 of the top ten rides to do, this is usually done on the Saturday as the longest ride of about 30 miles and is an all dayer with another ride on the Sunday of about 20 miles.
You can also ride from Thursday-Sunday if your a masochist and is brilliant but pacing yourself is a good idea as I found to my cost, lol

I was thinking of camping. It's very basic but very cheap.

Re: Red Kite Mountain Bike Festival 6th-9th August
You got me checking my diary Gav as I hadn't got the girlie weekend in ink yet as I didn't think the dates had been finalised.
As I originally had the 1st & 2nd of August in the diary for the Red Kite I thought we could go, but looks like I am babysitting my God daughter on the 8th so can't do the weekend. Gutted! (They did ask me with about 3 months notice so I can't really let them down!)
You can still try and drag Danny along though!

I've booked the time off work and plan to do a family camp kinda thing with a bit of red kiting.
Any family friendly campsites you would recommend?
So who's going?

That's a shame.
Danny would be very welcome. I think it's just his type of riding.
