CamelBak crud
Hi guys,
Had a build up of white gunk in my Camelbak bladder recently and nearly threw it away. I couldn't seem to scrub it off easily, even using a stiff brush. I usually stick energy drinks in it, PSP22 or GO. As I clean it pretty thoroughly I sent an email to Science in Sport asking them if they had any advice on preventing this in future. Here's the reply:
So, it's all good to go, as long as it's white and hard to scrub, not black. Posting here in the spirit of sharing good advice, hopefully that'll stop someone else throwing away a perfectly good bladder.
Now to sort out my crusty hose, but that's going to need advice from a medical professional. (joke)

Thankyou for your e-mail and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Camelbak Crud is nasty, but when it goes mouldy it is black. The white
crusty build up is simply the salts from the GO and particles of dry
powder that have got slightly damp and crystallised - hence it's a bit
hard to budge, but nothing to worry about.
If your Camelbak does go mouldy, leave it full of Milton or baby-bottle
cleaner overnight, rinse out with cold water and away you go.

Re: CamelBak crud
Good advise Jase.
Tom they last years and years with no cleaning at all if you do like Jase suggests and wack em in the freezer after your ride. Empty of course only an idiot would leave water in.......damn damn damn it!
Joking aside the semi frozen water trick is ace for a hot summers day!
cool dudes
