Cannock Chase ??

On Tuesday we talked about visiting Cannock bright and early Sat (tomorrow). Haven't heard or seen anything more . Is it still on ?
Where/when are we meeting etc.

I aim to get over to Cannock at some point in September to try and iron out a regular 30 mile (ish) route. I hope to encourage some of the closet MTB owners in my local road riding club to get muddy. I'll bear you mind when I get a date established. I don't suppose you know a good route and have it on GPS?

Cool, I am based in Birmingham, near junction 4 of the M5 so I really ought to go up there more often. I'd like to do a lap of Follow the Dog then go and hit the trails with a total ride of about 30 miles.

I was riding up that way in the Midlands xc champs, I've recorded the route:

Three laps of the course, it had lots of technical Ascent and Descents thrown in. Maybe you could use some of this to build your 30 mile'r

Great stuff. I'll try to plan it into the route. It's always nice to know a dead cert route that works on the ground rather than one that looks good on the map but isn't good to ride.

The guys at Cannock are quite secretive about passing on or publishing trail information, they simply dont want the whole world riding their unofficial trails. But if you go onto their forum there are groups riding there most weekends and they know all of the chase and would be happy to show you (take your GPS and you have a route!). There is also a Wednesday evening ride starting from the Horns pub and finishing off with Chips and a pint if you have lights and are interested.
