| A few of us rode last year. I rode the the long route with Stuart. My thoughts... Long, hard, crowded until the ride split, steep climbs, sections of sheep track, the best part was on the longer section, line up for the start early, sketchy fast descents. |

| | cheers Pete, at moment looking to do the short course, but will do the long if i train for it. Not really into racing and like the idea of riding on land you cant normally access so it seems ideal. Think I,ll chuck an application in. Thanks for the info. |

| I did this last year and I was told it wasn't as difficult as the Merida routes. I had a couple of the Merdia 100k under my belt last year so I was feeling a little blasé about the whole thing, the night before the race I had a couple of bevies and didn't really eat that much. According to other riders the course was much harder than the year before.... I planned on riding a steady race and finishing the course in 5 hrs but it eventually took me just over 6 hrs. Like Pete said.... lots of climbing and a little crowded at the start but after the split it's like you're on your own and becomes more enjoyable. I heard from the organizers that there was surplus of food/drinks at the feed stations after the split on the longer route because lots of riders opted for the shorter route. I recorded it last year:

| | Steve, Daz, appreciate the feedback. The 48k is looking more appetising by the minute. A couple of mates fancy the 75k but after putting on a stone and a half and not training/riding regularly for 7 months, it,ll take 6 months to get ready for the short one. |

| I did it last year. I've actually emailed them about the dates for 2008 as they haven't updated the webpage. They 99% sure it'll be on 8th June.
I did the long route last year in just over 7hrs. By the end of it I was glad to get off the bike. The neck strain of looking ahead up the hills got to me. I'd agree with some of the other comments that it was more enjoyable after the split. Before the split it was you get slowed down by having to funnel through narrower areas. You also run the risk of running into the back of or getting pushed over by those that fall off or choose the wrong gear.
I plan to do the long route again this year. |

| | would any of the Cyclone committee have an issue with me using the club name as my choice of club for this ride? Having looked at the rider list my original selection may not be in keeping with the spirit of the event. If I have no negatives in the next couple of days i,ll assume its alright. Thanks all. |

| | Club rules state that if you use the name and don't come in the top 5 you have to buy bacon sarnies for all club members as punishment for the shame you have bought upon the club. |

| | Cheers for that Nath. Jase, I expect to win..... the over 40, broken and feeble, breathing out of a*se pumping up his tyres section of the race, does that count? If not I,m sure the guys at the butchers in Little Brickhill will do a deal on 30 rounds of green bacon! |
