The Builth one is first so its that one you want to do!

They are a good weekend away if the weather is nice, Ive done the Ruthin, Builth and Marshbrook ones in the past. Ruthin has always been the hardest in the past

You can choose 25km ish 50km ish 75 km ish 100km ish

As Darren said, try the first one at Builth Wells, its a nice town and a really good course.

Also, it might make sense to try the first event so you can experience marathon riding and if you enjoy it then you still have the pick of the remaining calendar to try again and maybe increase your distance Laughing

How about the Bucks off road classic in May as a starter: http://www.bucksoffroadsportive.co.uk/

Not done it but I'd imagine it would be easier than the CRC ones????

Done the bucks off road before, it is a good event to get you going with a few different distances. The climbs are challenging but not as extreme as the welsh mountains and it's closer to home. Last time I did it I got a commemorative pint glass for taking part and a free drink at the bar Smile.

http://www.brightonbigdog.com/ is good fun too!

The route and distances for the bucs off road vary a little every year. 70km might be a bit of a shock to the system if you haven't been on a mountain bike for long! There are refuel stops, some of it is on road and you have lots of time to finnish it if you want to take it easy.
