Chilterns Ride - Christmas Week
I am looking to organise a ride during Christmas Week, probably 29th December, to shed a few pounds gained over Christmas...
It will be our favourite route, about 30 miles, but with some tough climbs, so shouldn't be underestimated. It is a classic XC route in the Chiltern hills and lies between Stokenchurch and Henley on Thames.
This route was classified as a hard route when originally published in MBR Magazine.
It has a lovely mix of singletrack, doubletrack, bridleways with long descents, sharp climbs and a lovely pub stop for lunch at the 'The Lamb' at Satwell.
Duration- 4-6 hours of riding (we did it in just over 3,but we were keen ).
Start / Finish :
arrive 0945 for 1000 start at Cowleaze Wood carpark nr Stokenchurch, Cowleaze Wood Car Park
Plenty of notice, so you folks who have often said you want to come along can!

It's on the calendar!
This will be my first away day ride this year and no doubt the last.

Re: Chilterns Ride - Christmas Week
Woody, it's a Thursday. I planned it specially so you could come along mate
Pleased to see you've got the day off Neil
Let's hope it's not raining, as I think the route might not be viable if too wet, given the clay...
Fingers crossed

Re: Chilterns Ride - Christmas Week
Alan, as Gary says, you will be fine, especially on that new machine of yours...
Just everyone bring plenty of energy bars etc cos it's a big ride, but very enjoyable
Sorry you can't make it Dave. We will do it again in the spring

Here's a link, showing the entrance to the car park in Cowleaze Wood, where we meet.
Cowleaze Wood
Check here again on the morning of the ride. If It's really wet, I will cancel the ride
