Changing front forks....

Pretty easy isn't it?

Managed to get mine off, but the new (ebay) ones I'm looking at putting on have a little shorter steerer tube.

Basically means I can loose the 2 spacer rings that were there before as the tube is exactly the right length then.

Should be ok shouldn't it?

When you say exactly, do you mean the top of the steerer is flush with top of your stem?

The top of the steerer needs to be a few mm below the top of the stem.

Well that should be perfect then. I could either cut down the steerer a little, of use one of my spacer rings I suppose.

If it's really tight, some headsets have a short top-cup assembly which may give you more room to play with. Likewise, some stems have shorter clamp areas.
