As title says - going to get some new forks for my Trek in the next few days / weeks and I'm thinking of going for Rock Shox Rebas.

What do people think of the Rock Shox Reba Race 'Dual Air' forks?

I can pick a pair up from Wiggle for £287, which seems pretty good.

Little Gav - did you ever decide if Poplock and / or U-turn was for you? I feel like I'd need some persuading to go for either, as I don't currently have them on my SIDs, so I'm not sure I'd use them. Anyone else got any comments?

Just noticed your post N@th - you got your forks from Ebay in the US?

This worked out ok then? Any tips to look for? I'd be going for a 'new' set, so no worries about second hand scammers!

Also, why didn't you have to pay import duty, etc? Was it just luck, or were yours second hand, or something? Not really that sure how import duty works!

I think the way to avoid it is get the shop t mark it as a gift and put the value down as under a certain value (£50 I think).

Only problem is if they get lost in the post you'd only get gthe stated value back!

Tom, as Jase said, you can take advantage of the strong £, but with anything there is a risk.

Boght them for £220, shipping was £10. So £230 all in all. I asked him to mark the package as a gift, and used, and put the value down as $80. So I ended up paying nought. I also imported a wake board once for £350, and didn't pay anything htne. Its a matter of luck I think and also who brings it into the country.

With self decleration T-docs (customs paperwork) everything under $100 is overlooked, too much admin cost to administer. Plus the certification for 'used' stuff is even lower.

With all items that are imported there is a classification code that links it to a category of use. I.E Sports Equipment, Building Materials etc etc. The tax for Sports Equipment I'm pretty sure is 22%. So you could buy them and simply pay the tax, which would be around £40, but then you are around the UK price.

Its fine if it all works out, but if it gets lost, you can only claim $100. Gutted. Do you know anyone who is going out to the US soon?

You can get the Reba Race with pop-loc on www.merlinecycles.co.uk for £310. Thats good.

But have you considered the Reba Sl's. They weigh EXACTLY the same as the Race version, plus have the same magnesium drop outs, 32mm legs etc etc. The ONLY difference is that the SLs don't have External Floodgate.

External Floodgate is all bobbins really. It simply means that you can set the point at which the lockout is overcome by bumps externally using a little fiddly dial. The Internal Floodgate the SL's have means you have to do this with a little allen key at the bottom of the leg anyhow (I never did on mine). That is the ONLY difference,

But ref the pop-loc, I found it really useful. I was flicking it on and off all the time. I have Revelations now, without a pop-loc......think I'll probably get Tyrone to fit one when I get them serviced.

If I were choosing between Race and SLs I would go SLs all the time. Especially when you save nearly £100, just buy a RS decal kit, and stick the RACE sticker on the crown and lie!!

Tom, my wife has rebas on her Trek. The rebas are great forks imo. Loads of adjustment so you can set them up just right, they would suit anyone that likes to "tinker." As for buying from the US, most of my snowboard gear came from the US and Canada, the stores woulod mark them up as samples or marketing merchandise. No import tax that way- hurrah!
