| I have a creak which I think is coming from the drive side of the crank when under pressure. It's only recently come on. The BB and the crank came off my old bike and were a bit reluctant to be seperated and had to be persuaded with some wood and a hammer but were quiet when I first fitted them, there's no play. The pedals are brand new.
Any suggestions or typical culprits?

| Craig,
Check 1/some/all of the following:
Saddle/post (no really)
Did you grease the pedal thread? Try removing and greasing/re-greasing.
Same with the crank arms (don't grease square taper).
Is every thing tightened properly (BB, Cranks, Pedals)

| Cheers,
The saddle is well tight as I stopped to nip it up on the ride. After posting this I Googled and found that the following can be culprits:
- Unlubricated chain - Loose chain ring bolts - Unlubricated pedal threads - Ungreased or greased crank arms where they fit to the BB. Opinion is divided for both the square taper and Octalink fittings.
Will check tonight as I have the HONC on Sunday. Oh, I'll take a couple of Cod Liver oil and Glucosamine tablets in case it's my knees !
Cheers. |
