Guys n Gals,

I think some of you have tried spinning. I hear it's hard work and will be giving it a go over the weekend. Not sure if I have made it up but do the bikes have standard SPD fittings? Prob best to take standard trainers and SPD's... anything else I should know?

Cheers. affraid

Not much you need to know about spinning, it is hard work but so is any work out! Some Spin bikes have SPD pedals but most don't so you are better off using ordinary trainers. Only essential requirement is a FULL bottle of water and a small towel to wipe away the sweat! Enjoy Rolling Eyes

Craig, I'm spinning 3 times a week now. In a variety of different classes. RPM, Basic Spinning and a new version called Rush. RPM is great training fo rthe single speed. Loads of bit climbs with very low res sprints. I love it.

Its the only thing to get me functioning at 06:00 !!

We have SPD's one side, they make life a lot easier so take them just in case. PLUS a big water!!

I am up in Birmingham and went to Cocks Moors Wood Leisure Centre over the weekend as you don't need to be a member to do the classes. They only have one type of spinning... not like an easy, medium or hard range.

We spent most of the time out of the saddle and I sweated like a pig. It was a good workout. There was quite a bit of speed work and some progressive high resistance climbing.

Big note to the uninitiated.... there's NO FREEWHEEL affraid so momentarily crusing to reach your water bottle means the flywheel whips round and forces the pedals round for a revolution either breaking your legs or making the bike bunny hop. I think it caught me out 3 or 4 times. Rolling Eyes
