Completely off topic, but do any of you know of anyone that does or has had there car/van ECU remapped. As fuel prices are killing me at the mo,so I need to get more MPG out of the beast.

| Hi Paul,
Cheers mate for the links. I'm quite happy to lose a few BHP's to get more MPG as at the moment I'm only getting about 30MPG @ 80 on the Motorway all day! I should be getting more than that.Even if I get an extra 5MPG,spread that over the 45k I do a year it soon adds up.

| This has turned into a competition in our house which my wife in currently winning . Her best is 70.3mpg on a run from MK to Buckingham!
Top tips - foot off the gas short shift - keep revs between 1500 and 2000 engine braking = no fuel no AC check tyre pressures
Not sure if all these apply to petrol as our car is a diesel but we've improved our mpgs from 40's to 60's with a bit of care and its a lot less stressful too.
For my next attempt at the record I'll by waiting for a good easterly blow and breaking out the turtle wax! |

| What car do you drive fella?
I've saved a fortune getting rid of the MR2 turbo and switching to a deisel Astra Van. It's been like a payrise!
30mpg would have been great on the MR2!
I would recommend a quick rolling road session before you remap. Usually costs about 15-20 quid I think.
They will analyse all sorts of things, but most importantly, should be able to tell you if you are overfueling.
Could be as simple as a broken lambda sensor, blocked air filter, or something simple like that.

| Short shifting my help greatly - keep away from ye turbo.
My brother's a bit of a road warrior and reported a considerable improvement in distance between refills by keeping a firm lid on the revs. Nearly drove him mad though so it didn't last long. |
