| Saturday 16th to Sunday 24th June Ok, we have tried to build maximum flexibility in to this exciting week, with good access to some of the best trails in Scotland. The plan is to drive up on Saturday 16th and stay at Barend near Dalbeatti for 4 nights with some great trails on the doorstep at Dalbeattie, Ae, Mabie and Kirroughtree. Then drive up to the Peebles area and stay for 2 nights. With superb trails close by at Glentress and Innerleithen we will be spoilt for choice. Then drive up to Avimore on the Friday for the Outsider Festival and the 3rd round of the Merida MTB Marathon on Saturday. Returning for the long drive home on Sunday 24th. Accommodation & Cost:
1. Four nights at Dalbeatti, Log Cabin accommodation at Barend, Self catering basis, £60 per person http://www.barendholidayvillage.co.uk/
2. Two nights at Peebles, Cross Keys Hotel, Bunk house accommodation on B&B basis at £44 per person or £60 per person sharing a Double room on B&B basis http://www.crosskeyspeebles.co.uk/index.htm
3. Two nights at Avimore, Camping at the Outsider festival. See the MTB Marathon Web Site for details of costs and on line booking. Or source your own B&B accommodation. http://www.outsiderfestival.co.uk/
You can choose to join us at Dalbeattie, Peebles or Avimore or join us for all three.
For those that don’t want to go up to Avimore, the festival and the MTB Marathon there may be an option to extend the stay at Peebles.
There are 8 places only available on this exciting trip at the moment, if more people are interested, extra places may be made available.
Please send me a PM or Email if you are interested in Cyclone in Scotland 2007 and I will send you details of how to pay and confirm your place.

I know some people are planning to head upto Aviemore on the Friday for the Merida Im not doing to do the merida ( think I will get a nose bleed if I go that far north) I'd like to ride in the Peebles area on the Friday stay the extra night then leave for home on the Saturday morning straight after breakfast. |

I'm from that neck of the woods so if you have time you should try and head to Keswick and do the skiddaw loop. It's a good climb and a very long and fast decent. I've got the details somewhere if you're interested. If you're not planning on heading that far west then try the North face route, it's a mile or so out of Ambleside. http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-69hbp2

| Got my tickets in the post this week for the Outsider Festival and I've booked the general campsite, I wish now I had booked the quiet/Family site, I wont feel much like doing a Merida Marathon if I dont get any sleep Also you can't take your car onto the general camp site where as you can on the other one.

Hey Steve,
I'd be keen to see your loop route - do you have details you can pass on?
I would definately recomend the lakes, though TNF trail at Grizedale isn't upto much against the wilds of Wales and Scotland. There are miles or excellent bridleways in the lakes that make a much more satisfying day out.
:) :)

| OK, I managed to find the route on motionbased, this is a well known route in the area and relatively easy to following without getting lost. I normally do this in the evening and takes about 2 hours, first half is a long climb up the back of Skiddaw then a long decent which brings you back to where you started.
http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/1942025
It can get really wild towards the top of Skiddaw (even in the summer) so it's best to have some kind of jacket/wind shell with you. This is my favourite route for a short'ish ride. I'd take a full suz if possible because the decent is fecking mental and please try your best not to hit any walkers on the way down, those numpties can get in the way.
