In my NY reso's I want to hug more trees, bring peace to Southshields and bring my carbon count down (not my bars and stem by the way!!)

Also, I thought it would be good for Cyclone to undertake monumental challenge all in the name of charity. How about a 1 day, 100 mile ride for charity. bounce

One charity I have raised money for in the past is the British Diabetic Association, as I and a number of the members, have close relatives and friends with Diabetes.

So, how about it, 100 miles in 1 day. Maybe the South Downs for the MTB'rs, maybe the London Marathon route 4 times, for the Roadies.

Its a worth while cause and would be a great training goal.

Who's in?

There is the Etape du Dales ride which is 110 miles in Yorkshire on 20th May which I think you can ride for Charity

OK, how about we do 200 miles.

100 on road one day, and 100 off road the next day?

Perhaps a marathon the day after, and a 5 mile swim to finish off.

I think this macho Ironman shizzle may be putting people off. pale

We are a Mountain Bike Club, so may be best to stick with 100 miles off road. Maybe The South Downs. Very Happy

Count me in diary dates permitting. The tougher the better but in my experience 30 miles XC is fine, 50 is run me a radox bath and anything over that you're looking medical help. How about setting up a vote thingy for 50, 75 and 100?

Count me in, although 100 miles off road will seriously test everyones commitment to the cause (which sounds a very noble one). Given that the fitness levels of the clubs varies significantly, maybe we should offer different course lenghts (Merida style) and do a 50, 75 and 100K rides in seperate groups?

Yeah, I think after we discussed it last night, 50 miles will be a more of a realistic target.

Hey,
I was thinking maybe we could get the local press involed???
We may get some new members and it would look cool for the club.

I think 50 miles would be a better target distance,or we could maybe set up a 24hr enduro with teams invited from other clubs???

What do you think?
