Gary, the chain will def stretch. I thighten my tension every week, so does Jason. So I can imagine you will have to do it pretty often.

The DICTA freewheels are pants, but hey, they're only £12 !!. But they do always sound pretty terrible at the best of times. Due to the fact the bearings are not sealed, once water and sand gets it, they sound ropie, but should last a fair while.

Get a White Industries ENO freewheel. It will cost about £70. but it will last for at least 2 years !!

So what is Phil actually doing?? It took me about 4 mins to take the freewheel off !! and if he sticks a new chain on thats terrible!! Ask him for the chain back, and ask him to show you what it looks like with a chain wear indicator in. If not, I'll being mine up and see how it looks. I'd be intested to see what they do.

It doesn't really matter if the chain strecthes, or the teeth on the front ring start to get sharp, as they are not obviously shifting etc you can pretty much run all the drive chain into the ground and start again.

I'm going to move to 1/8th drive chain with a thick front ring and obviously a 1/8th chain for e bit more strength and maybe less stretch!

If you get any probs again, drop it off with me, Id be more than happy to fix if for ya for nowt. I have pretty much most tools we'd need.

Cheers mate,

I'm popping in this afternoon to the shop to see what the crack is. The chain had streched to the point whereby when adjsuted it was at the very end of the dropout pale not sure if a link can be taken out instead?

I def think the white ind eno is a good idea, I just want to feel the drive is secure. At the moment it really feels rubbish... oh that and i have some pennies to burn.

Gutted Mad SLR's are now on back order may not see them until Feb!

Cheers for the offer, I'll keep you posted.
